Gerald Julin served in France and Germany during WWII. He was part of a machine gun squad and got to see action front and center. When the war was over in Europe, Gerry was preparing to leave for the Pacific Theater in preparation for the invasion of the Japanese mainland. At the last second he was reassigned and was able to return home safely. |

Machinist's mate 2nd Class Wallace DePorter served during WWII on the USS Lea and the USS Stribling Destroyers. Wallace shares his experiences and one particular event in which the Destroyer Lea got rammed and nearly sinks. His primary duties were escorting various ships including troop transport in the atlantic while dodging submarines. |
